This is a 3-session class is for Beginning Quilters, or for those wanting some Skill Refreshing and Practice!

We'll work on a basic 9 Patch Block adding borders, sashing and cornerstones and corner blocks using the Pat Sloan "Teach Me to Make My First Quilt" book making a small 9 Patch quilt top. (Quilt size 48 ½" by 48 ¼" Block size finished 12 by 12)
This quilt will show you how to showcase any quilt block with an easy method of using sashing and corner stones. You'll also practice using your Stripology ruler to cut accurate strips, blocks, cornerstones, borders and binding.

Session 1
Reading the pattern, cutting all your fabric into the required strip lengths. You will learn to sew the 9-Patch blocks in a quick and easy method, learn the art of pressing, accurate " seams.

Session 2
Pressing and using your Stripology ruler (or a large 12 % "square ruler) to "square up" blocks and join them together with sashing strips; create sashing rows and finally join them all together.

Session 3
Complete any missing sashing's; make sure all the blocks, rows, sashing, corner stones are all aligned. Add the side borders; measure for top and bottom borders with a corner added. add.

Materials and Supplies
• Pat Sloan's Teach Me to Make My First Quilt Book
• Sewing Machine in good working order
• Sewing/Quilting Tools from the SEWING TOOL Box List (Calico Station website link)
• Stripology Ruler and/or a 6" by 24" ruler
• Rotary cutter with a FRESH blade
• 80/12 sewing machine needles
• Thread to blend or match your chosen fabric

FABRIC.... Pressed and prepared using starch, Magic Quilt Spray, Best Press, Terial Magic, or spray sizing
• Fabric Requirements: All fabric is based on 42: wide fabric
• Block A medium colored fabric (fabric a) 1yd
• Block B light colored fabric (fabric b) yd
• Sashing & border squares dark fabric (fabric c) ½ yd
• Cornerstones (fabric d) 6" by 6" square
• Outer Borders and binding (fabric e) dark print similar color to sashing 1 yd
(2 ½ yd backing 53" by 53" batting will be needed for completion)
