class- 4 Patch Table Topper

This is a 3-session class is for Beginning Quilters, or for those wanting some Skill Refreshing and Practice! We'll work on a basic 4 Patch Block and turn it into a great showcase for your favorite fabrics using the Pat Sloan "Teach Me to Make My First Quilt" book making a Table Runner (Block size finished: 12" by 12" Finished quilt 16-1/2" by 40 - ½")
Session 1
We'll practice reading a pattern, cutting all your yardage (blocks, borders and binding) according to the directions (using the Stripology ruler). You'll practice the " seams, nesting seams, and adding borders.
Session 2
We'll make the backing, create the quilt sandwich for your topper. During class you will be able to quilt your project, square it up, start the binding process.
Session 3
Complete all phases of the binding using your machine (no hand sewing!!)
Materials and Supplies
- Pat Sloan's Teach Me to Make My First Quilt Book
- Sewing Machine in good working order
- Sewing/Quilting Tools from the SEWING TOOL Box List (Calico Station website link)
- *Stripology Ruler and/or a 6" by 24"ruler * preferred for class
- Rotary cutter with a FRESH blade
- 80/12 sewing machine needles
- Thread to blend or match your chosen fabric
FABRIC.... Pressed and prepared using starch, Magic Quilt Spray, Terial Magic, or spray sizing
Fabric Requirements:
All fabric is based on 42: wide fabric
¼ yd of a light print fabric (fabric a)
¼ yd medium to dark print fabric (fabric b)
5/8 yd coordinating fabric for borders and binding (fabric c)
1 - 3/8 yd fabric for backing
27" by 45" piece of batting
