Event- Embroidery Retreat March 2025

Come join other embroidery enthusiast for a weekend of fun! Bring a new project or a project you have started but need to finish. Drinks and snacks will be provided and we have a refrigerator for use. This event will be held at the shop. Do you need some guidance with your embroidery projects. We can help you with your questions.

Poppies & Petals features a lovely gathering of coneflowers, poppies, pansies and petunias done in both appliqué and 3D technique! The bundle of flowers is bursting with details. class- Wearable Art

Transform a favorite sweat shirt that still fits but might need a bit of TLC or use a new sweatshirt, some scrap fabric, fat quarters or some of your favorite stash fabric and create a useable piece of wearable art. Join Barb White and with a snip here and there, few decorative stitches, you can create a favorite piece of wearable art.  This is a one day class. “Pattern” instructions will be provided. Materials Needed: Sweatshirt that fits over your hips comfortably A selection of  8-10 coordinating fabrics fat qtrs , fat eighths, or scraps (at least 4”x6”) ¼ yd Steam a Seam LITE  (9“x20”) Thread that coordinates or contrasts to your fabric (black is always a good choice) Size 80/12 needle Sewing Machine in good working order with manual and feet. Class- Serger Saturday April 2025

Come join us for this fun class to make this decorative toilet paper holder. All brands of machines welcome. Supplies needed for class are your machine, feet for your machine, manual, machine tool kit, thread, clips for holding fabric together and 1/2 yd of fabric. Thread to match your fabric. class- 12 Months of Quilting April 2025

Come join us for this fun quilting class! We will be making a different quilt block each month in this 12 month series. Focusing as well on different stitching techniques. (The series started in February 2025. Join in anytime) Pattern will be provided for each class. This quilt takes just four colors. The size of the quilt is 51” X 66” Block size is 12 1/2 Layer cake and fat quarter friendly. Sashing for the quilt is up to you depending on what size you would like to use for it. Fabrics needed for block one are a total of 4 pieces of 12" x 18". 1 color for the background and 3 colors for the pieced fabrics. Total Yardage for the quilt is approximately 6 yards for the top, not including binding and backing. The colors in the quilt block are for diagram purposes. You can pick any colors for your quilt. Basic Sewing Tool Box Supplies. Standard quilting ruler (for example a 3 x12), marking pen, small cutting mat, mini iron, ironing mat, thread, machine needles, pins and clips, rotary cutter and small scissors. All Brands of Machines Welcome. This can be done on a sewing machine or serger.

class- T Shirt Quilt

Is there a pile of special clothing or T-shirts sitting in the back of your closet waiting for help and inspiration? Join our classes and learn how to plan and prepare your keepsakes, turning them into a finished quilt that will have sentimental and practical value. Class #1 will help decide your quilt layout. You will also learn how to select coordinating fabric for borders, sashing, binding, and backing. Before you leave your first class you will have cut prepared your t-shirts for cutting into their required size (or sizes). Class #2 will require you to bring all your prepared t-shirts, cut into their appropriate sizes, to class along with fabric for borders sashing and backing. By the end of class students *should have a completed t-shirt quilt top. ( Depends upon how students layout/design their quilt tops) Demonstrations will be given for preparing the quilt for quilting using your person sewing machine, edge to edge quilting on an embroidery machine or sending the top to a long arm quilter. Supplies required: Sewing machine in good working order. NEW sewing machine needles size 80/12 or 90/14 Thread (neutral grey either light, medium or dark) depending upon your T-shirts T-shirts – clean and wrinkle free (The quantity will determine the side of the quilt) Knit fusible interfacing (1/2 yd per T-shirt) General sewing supplies ( see the website Sewing Tool Box link or click here ) Scissors, rotary cutter – with fresh blade, Stripology rulers or lg. 12” square rulers will be used in class.

Class- Foundation Paper Piecing

Come join Sandi for this fun class! Foundation paper piecing (FPP) is a quilting technique that uses paper to stabilize the fabric while piecing together a quilt block. FPP is used to create precise, small and detailed pieces. This class covers basic foundation paper piecing. Sandi uses a free pattern to create a small pillow. You could just as easily make more blocks for a small quilt or table topper. The pattern and foundation papers to make one block will be provided in class. Supply List Fat Quarter Background Fat Quarter Light Fat Quarter Medium Fat Quarter Dark Note: If you want to put a border around the block, you will need ¼ yard fabric of that color instead of a fat quarter. You will also need A fat quarter for the back if making a pillow A ruler that has distinct ¼ marking Sewing toolbox contents Open toe foot for your machine. class- Free Motion Quilting May 2025

Let’s drop those feed dogs, put on that embroidery/darning foot and move that fabric around! Join Barb as we dabble in free motion quilting. Learn to simply outline a motif on your fabric, fill in some space, and generally control where and how your fabric moves across your sewing machine surface! Supplies / Materials 5 or more Fabric Sandwiches approx. 12” by 12” in size • Sandwich = Backing, Batting, and a Top (spray baste, quilters safety pins or quilters glue stick BEFORE coming to class) • One of the sandwiches should have a motif (medium sized flower, animal or shape to outline) Thread in a dark neutral or black (Allows you to see your work, identify tension issues, outline a motif!) New needles for your machine – size 80-12 Embroidery or Darning foot Sewing machine, manual, cords or cables ?If your machine has an extension table please bring it. Scissors, ruler, marking pen, quilters safety pins (general sewing and quilting supplies) *Quilting gloves - not necessary, but may help you move and control the fabric.

Camp Calico (Sewing and Embroidery Retreat) August 7 ,8, 9, 10. Starts at 11:00 am on August 7 and ends at 4:00 pm on August 10. That's 4 days of sewing and embroidery! Do you want to get caught up on projects or start news ones, laugh with other sewing enthusiasts, meet new people and have a great time! Come join us at Camp Calico. It is held at the Marriott at 610 Wells Rd, Orange Park, FL 32073. We provide a beverage service, snacks and have door prizes. Meals are on your own. The hotel does have a microwave and Bistro restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner.
