class- Let’s Sew a Blouse! - Feb 18, 2026 10:30 am
Join us for an in-depth garment sewing experience as we create the London Shirt, a loose-fitting and stylish blouse design from The Sewing Workshop. This pattern features diagonal-to-the-front side seams that form open side vents, a swing back, and a collar that can be worn standing up or folded down. The dropped shoulders, three-quarter length sleeves, and folded cuffs give this shirt a relaxed, wearable look, finished with a seven-button closure. In this four-session class, you’ll learn a little pattern work to ensure a great fit, refresh and build garment construction skills, and gain confidence using features on your machine you may not use often — including your buttonhole attachment and even that “mystery” button-sewing foot! This class meets for four sessions, from 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM, and homework is required between classes. Supply List Pattern • The London Shirt by The Sewing Workshop Pattern number: TSWPP063 The pattern will need to be purchased separately: https://sewingworkshop.com/shop/London-Shirt-PDF-Pattern-Download-p106370303 The store sample is made using quilting cotton — a good-quality fabric with a tight weave — which is perfect for creating a wearable “test” or muslin garment. class- Help Me!... Machine Basics February 2026 - Feb 28, 2026 10:30 am
You want to learn to sew and have no idea how to use the sewing machine you were given, bought, or found buried in the closet. Can you wind a bobbin or thread the machine? Do you know what the machine parts are called? Know what those buttons or knobs are for? Needles…when & how do I change one? Why does my thread or needle keep breaking? Did the machine eat your fabric on the first stitch? What do I do with all these strange things they call feet? That machine is crazy, it goes too fast, and doesn’t go straight. If any one of the above items have happened to you, YOU need this class. Let Barb White, a retired Home Economics teacher, help you feel COMFORTABLE using your sewing machine. Any make or brand. The goal of this class is to show YOU how to use YOUR machine. This is a basic class. It is NOT how to use your embroidery module, or to teach you how to sew. Supplies needed: • Sewing machine with cords, owner’s manual • All the parts in the little bag that came with your machine all the feet, bobbins, tools (brush, mini screwdriver) • NEW extra package of machine needles • Small sewing scissors or snips • 2 spools of different colored thread (Not white or black) • Clips or pins • Seam ripper • Seam guide • Tape measure (not retractable) • Pencil & Paper for notes
